Silica is used by several industries. Due to the knowledge of its characteristics and wide functionality, it is a source of interest from many researchers. Silica is available in a variety of forms and the types of silica to be produced from rice husk are classified as HDS (Highly Dispersible Silica) and EDS (Easy Dispersible Silica), classified by the dispersibility level, i.e. the capacity of it particles disaggregation.
The greater the dispersion degree the more silica can be introduced into compounds, i.e. rubber. Silicas are added in rubber as reinforcing, as well as to decrease the tire rolling resistance. In comparison, an EDS can not enter into a higher percentage in a formulation compared to a HDS. ORYZASIL produces HDS and EDS, in addition to the functionalized silicas.
